The Acting Secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has issued a National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS) Bulletin based upon a review of the threat environment across the United States. DHS believes this threat environment may persist for several weeks. As Washington D.C. and state capitals around the nation sustain a military presence with no defined stand down in sight, the DHS Bulletin suggests some ideologically-motivated violent extremists with objections to the exercise of U.S. governmental authority or the U.S. Presidential transition, as well as other perceived grievances, could pose a threat.
A NTAS Bulletin describes current developments or general trends regarding threats of terrorism is derived from a threat/risk analysis conducted across all federal law enforcement agencies. To view the NTAS Bulletin
CEN is monitoring this development and continues to collaborate with our trusted partners in law enforcement and across the Christian community. At this time our CEN National Team is unaware of any specific threats to the Christian community. However, with the rise of Christian killings up 60% this past year, the recent bomb explosion at the El Monte CA church, and the rise in arson attacks against Christian churches in the past weeks, is cause for every Christian family and Church Safety Security team to remain vigilant.
Mary Marr, CEN Founder and President, Co-Chair of the recent DHS Subcommittee on Preventing Targeted Violence Against Faith Communities says: “NTAS Bulletins do not depict a known or imminent threat to the U.S. It is issued as a warning to be vigilant. CEN has been preparing Christians to be ready for emergencies large and small for twenty years. The readiness principles are the same: being ready physically, emotionally, and mentally is important for our own immediate survival in any crises. However, being ready to give the Hope of Jesus Christ for such a time as this, answering the question, ‘Where is God in this?’ IS eternal.”

Always remember that part of being forewarned is to have your Situational Awareness on a higher watch. Look for signs of growing crowds that may inhibit your travel path. Have alternative paths worked out ahead of time (whether walking or driving). Carry water, blankets, a warm coat, and maybe some kind of snack in your vehicle in case you are delayed.
