“Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.” Psalms 127:1
Father, you have called us to be watchmen over the walls of the city in which you have Providentially placed us. Like Nehemiah we see the walls of our cities crumbling. Unless we turn back to you God, we will only see the destruction of the wicked. We yearn to see You Glorified and lifted up bringing health back to our cities, our homes and our personal lives. Help us to not labor in vain over the things which are temporal, rather to focus upon the treasures of heaven in which You are pleased. We are reminded Benjamin Franklin used this same verse to convince those who wrote the U.S. Constitution when they felt disillusioned to set their minds and hearts on You alone for wisdom and strength to build their cities amidst great opposition. Will You strengthen us with your wisdom in our area of leadership responsibility?
