Civil Unrest - A HAZARD of Natural Disasters

As Governor DeSantis warned those who would seek to attack the vulnerable that Second Amendment Exists in FLA we are reminded that natural disasters have many layers of crisis.

Natural Disasters can be very overwhelming, spiritually, emotionally, mentally as well as physically. There are so many things “to do” that are not in your normal routine so you may be distracted when another crisis hits, like civil unrest. Some groups take advantage following natural or man-made disasters and organize small bands of people to not only loot, but instigate an unrest situation by setting fires, blocking aid vehicles, and damaging property. Civil unrest following hurricanes, for example, is not new. Several years ago groups took small arms up on rooftops of shelters and started shooting at any police officer trying to bring order. What was their motive? They wanted to rule and take over.

Regardless of the motive, these situations are not to be taken lightly. You should avoid them if at all possible! Those who lash out during such times may not use firearms, but they may have access to machetes, ball bats, or other implements. One should always be looking out for opportunists and "inflammers" and avoid the mob scene.

God’s people avoid evil ways, and they protect themselves by watching where they go.” Proverbs 16:17

It makes you look good when you avoid a fight - only fools love to quarrel.” Proverbs 20:3

CEN National Safety Security Officer Dan Graeber says: “Prudence begins with obtaining a genuine understanding of the threat and receiving God’s gift of His protection. If you are interested in getting back to a normal lifestyle when civil unrest is seeming to take over, know the priorities.  Homes should be restored as quickly as possible. But schools should be the FIRST priority of commercial buildings. Getting children and youth back to a routine is a tremendous help to them and to adults!”

Watch the When Lightning Strikes video from CEN’s partner Center for Personal Protection and Safety (CPPS). It is part of the CEN  ReadyChristian training! It covers all aspects of responding to Active Assailants, including how to get out of an angry mob crowd during times of civil unrest.

Being involved with a ReadyChurch and sharing the When Lightning Strikes training will give your congregants a “place of refuge” with like minded believers who may help support them Spiritually, Emotionally, Mentally and Physically!
