CEN Advisory Church Attacker had 15 Year Criminal Record

AWARE

Local city leaders call for a revision to California’s “Sanctuary Cities” laws which protected the suspect in the San Jose, California Grace Baptist Church stabbing attack from being deported and brought to justice. The suspect had a criminal record spanning 15 years with multiple deportation requests according to DHS ICE authorities.

Washington Times reported: “A shocking violent attack at a California church has local leaders demanding a rethink of sanctuary policies Wednesday after the suspect was revealed to be an immigrant with a lengthy criminal record and multiple deportation requests from ICE, all of which were refused.”

According to the Washington Post article: “ A man suspected in the fatal stabbings of two people and the wounding of three others at a San Francisco Bay Area homeless shelter has a history of domestic violence and had been deported at least three times, officials said Wednesday. “

CEN Founder and President, Mary Marr, joined other national faith leaders last December in providing DHS Secretary Chad Wolf with specific recommendations on: “Preventing Targeted Violence in the Faith Community.” to avert such an attack. Marr stated: “It is imperative these recommendations be implemented by federal, state and local law enforcement immediately to avoid future incidents like these from occurring.”

Marr also said: “While we all need to be on higher alert especially in Soft Target Crowded Spaces like theaters, schools, malls, and churches as part of our daily routine, Scripture also reminds us in Acts 4:29-30: ‘Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your Holy servant Jesus.’ This is a time when Christians need to be spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically resilient. Again, let’s be a ReadyChristian, one who is Aware, Ready and There sharing Christ together!”

CEN National Safety Security Officer Darryl Walker stated: “The tragedy at Grace Baptist Church sadly reminds us, once again, that Christian churches, schools, ministries, and universities must be more vigilant than ever before and immediately implement safety measures to protect the flock. Churches need well-trained safety security teams with a solid understanding of situational awareness. A well-trained safety security team will constantly monitor all aspects of the church's campus, not just on Sunday mornings, but whenever the church or ministry functions. The development of CEN’s ReadyChurch Safety Security team with an Incident Command Structure will automatically enhance situational awareness. As civil unrest is proliferating and “sanctuary cities” are protecting criminals over the law-abiding citizens, it is definitely time for the Church as a whole to begin to stand up in many areas and have their own safety protocols in place.”

Review your ReadyChurch Plan

Notify local law enforcement when you see anyone:

Conducting surveillance around the facility.

Not following security entry and exit protocols.

Tampering with heating and cooling systems.

Working with children without a background check.

Parked illegally.

Acting suspiciously wearing bulky clothing.

Leaving packages unattended.

Calling, emailing, or texting threatening messages from outside sources.

Breaching your intrusion systems.

Tampering with gates or locks of facilities.

Driving vehicles into crowded non-secure areas.

THERE

Pray

  • CEN will be supported to minister even more closely with first responders on behalf of the Christian community, particularly in the areas of timely actionable information sharing, training, as well as incident prevention and mitigation. Minister to those who support you. Matthew 6:19

Care

  • Review your ReadyChurch security plan and ensure your congregation is reporting suspicious activities in and around your church facility to you and law enforcement.

  • Report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement, inside and outside church grounds, as these reports have substantially reduced incidents in the past two years according to the FBI.

  • Demonstrate the love of Christ with all those He places in your path.

Share

  • Words of encouragement with your local first responders who put their lives on the line every day for our safety and recovery.

  • ReadyChurch with your pastor and staff for your own congregation to be ready spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically when there is any incident, whether large or small, at your church.

CEN FAQs: Fire Smoke Affects Cars

When fires continue to rage as they have this year, many are coughing sneezing, and suffering respiratory difficulties as a result of the smoke. We also need to understand the same small contaminants are affecting our automobiles. While this may seem to be a minor issue, if your car breaks down then you now have an individual emergency that requires immediate attention.

The same smoke that causes people to be congested, throats to become sore and hacking coughs will affect your automobile.

We need to consider changing air filters if dirty because the performance of our engine will be degraded and your engine will need to work harder to perform, shortening the life of the engine. Further, an air filter can only hold so much got and after a while, the dirt will no longer be constrained by the filter but will start pushing into our engine causing wear and tear and possibly a breakdown with the future expense.

Another filter we don’t always consider is the cabin filter, a filter that improves the quality of air coming through our air conditioning and heating system. which we will breathe. These filters are designed to eliminate pollen, dust, and even mold spores from coming into her vehicle to be breathed. When the cabin filter is full the protection is lost and particularly those with respiratory illnesses will become more effective. The situation is something we don’t always consider carefully.

While we may not look at replacing her car filters with the same urgency that we do fighting a forest fire, when the smoke clears consider checking your air filters to verify that they’re still doing the appropriate job and if not replace them to protect yourself, your family and your engine.

CEN FAQs: Prepare your Family for Winter Emergencies

As we turn the calendar to December winter is here! Winter weather and accompanying emergencies will differ between the mountains of Montana to southern Florida. However, all of us should take some steps to prepare our family for winter emergencies, preparation that will assist in any season.

Every family should have an "emergency bug out" bag for each member, suitable for each age and circumstances. If you haven’t taken the step, please, in the next few weeks or sooner prepare a 72 kit for each vehicle. It will be time well invested.

Remove everything from a bag you may have put in your vehicle last year and check out the contents to make sure nothing has degraded. For example, if you have food bars you may want to refresh. Also, sunscreen is only good for so long, so you don’t want to try to apply in five years only find out that you get badly burned. During the summer your shorts and T-shirts are a fine addition. But, in the winter, you may want to change them out for long underwear. Extra warm clothing and mittens are a must. If you have room add a few extras, they were able to share an emergency with others.

Additionally, there may be some seasonal things like hand warmers or small portable heaters, many of which can be saved in confined spaces like your vehicle. Make sure you read and understand the instructions and practice using any devices in advance so that you don’t need to panic during the emergency. Also, place actual boots in the vehicle and make sure you have an extra ice scraper in case one breaks. A small immersive cup heater, will run off your car battery, will warm up drinks to keep everyone warm and is available inexpensively on Amazon, - just make sure you keep a small amount of hot chocolate mix, tea and coffee. Also, if you are stranded for a longer period of time in a snowstorm you can use the device to melt snow to warm temperature. At times during a major freeze your emergency water stored in your car may freeze so this device will allow water to be warmed.

Keep extra jackets and warm blankets in your vehicle. These can be purchased inexpensively in a secondhand shop, and they make great handouts to homeless people or others and persons you encounter.

If you’re considering a portable generator don’t wait until the storm strikes because they will be gone in an hour local store. For the home make sure you’ve tested and provided fresh fuel for at least a week for your home generator and refresh yourself on the safe operation.

Every room should have a LED type lantern which puts out significant light with minimal battery drain. Always good to have extra lights. But make sure you have one for each room, so nobody needs to stumble over the chair. Extra batteries, of course, are always a must. When you accumulate extra batteries and lights, you’re in a position to share with others.

For backup heat a wood stove is always great, but they are not practical for everyone. There are fairly inexpensive kerosene heaters designed for indoor use. Make sure you have adequate fuel stored and have read and understand the instructions before use. At a minimum one or more of these heaters will keep your house from completely freezing up and will provide a cuddly place for the family to gather.

Cooking and heating food are always a key function. If your stove or oven is gas you should be able to utilize these with the power off. And, if you have an automatic ignition for stove burner a kitchen match should still do the job. Amazon offers a selection of emergency stoves but there are also many other vendors. Again, read and understand the directions in safety features before using.

These ideas are not comprehensive but should be a good first step in being prepared for winter emergencies and give you a great springboard for doing more. CEN's Getting Started will help you become a truly ReadyChristian.

CEN Advisory: THE TIME IS NOW! Give Thanks for Law Enforcement

American Christians, how long are we going to put up with people burning and looting our businesses, terrorizing our homes, and disrespecting the people we trust to protect us, the Police.

Let’s show our appreciation this Thanksgiving to the people we under-pay, under-train and let some people disrespect by throwing bottles and spitting on them and yet we expect the police to make life or death decisions in microseconds. That, we may take weeks, months and even sometimes years to dissect or make these same decisions but allow them to be freely criticized and condemned for doing what we could not do. When will we stop letting ill-advised politicians and intellectual Idiots to defund them? Who are these men and women who risk it all to keep us safe and secure? LAW ENFORCEMENT.

When will we say enough is enough. These men and women deserve better than that. They deserve our respect and gratitude, but the most importantly they deserve us having their back. Like all professions there will be some who make mistakes. Some will be honest mistakes and some will be on purpose. The honest mistakes should be corrected, and the on-purpose mistakes should be prosecuted. Either way, our system of justice is for everyone, including policemen. They too are considered innocent until proven guilty.

Peaceful protests should be “protected at all costs”. Rioting and looting should be “prosecuted at all cost”. Recently, a CNN news broadcaster questioned why protests should be peaceful. We need to refer him to First Amendment of the United States Constitution: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof or abridging the freedom of speech, or the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”

We now have people in the news media telling people it is alright to violently protest while condemning and even supporting defunding the police in a time of crisis. A similar definition of using violence to force political or ideological agendas is used to define terrorism.

It is time for the community and the Church of Jesus Christ to stand up and say NO, this is wrong! The church should demand politicians stop unlawful protest plaguing our major cities and demand our prosecutors prosecute the criminal protesters and not the citizens who use their Second Amendment right to protect themselves and their property.

Our Christian leaders have to make the distinction between “Social Justice” from “Biblical Justice”. It is time we get back to putting Judo-Christian principles enshrined in our Constitution front and center and back into our government and our education system.

The America that I and millions have fought and many died for, is fading fast. We cannot sit idly by and watch our nation be torn apart. Romans 13: 1-8 says we need to respect authority. It is time to act in Christian unity together!

Reflect on the lyrics of a song written by Bernie Nelson, Philip Douglas, and Jeremy Bussey, recorded by Mark Wills:

I'm chasing down a memory

Of the way that things used to be

Kids playing underneath and old street light

Knowing they were safe when they laid down at night

I'm looking for something I ain't seen in a while

I'm looking for a factory

Where a man can feed his family

Not worried about them moving it south

Closing the doors and shutting her down tomorrow

I'm looking for America

The land of the free and the home of the brave

Seems like I just woke up one day

And it was gone, long gone

But I know in my heart it's still out there

Can somebody please tell me where

I'm looking for America

I'm searching for an old church steeple

Where inside you'll find people

Who live their lives unashamed

And they ain't afraid to say God's name out loud

Yeah, I'm looking for America

The land of the free and the home of the brave

Seems like I just woke up one day

And it was gone, long gone

But I know in my heart it's still out there

Can somebody please tell me where?

I'm looking for America!

I'm out here looking for the truth

A few folks to waive the red, white and blue

Who still believe freedom isn't free

And I guess it's up to you and me to find it

Yeah we've got to find it

Cause we're looking for America.

Blessed Thanksgiving!

CEN FAQs: Non Covid – Highlight the Unseen Part of Pandemic

Every day we are bombarded on the news of the infection rate due to the Covid pandemic. Something we don’t readily see are the health implications in the general population as a result of the pandemic resulting from other factors.  HPC Live reports total death in United States have increased 20 such% between March and July 2020. While two thirds of these are a result of the pandemic, one third is not and represents a significant increase in the death rate within the general population in the United States.

Often in society we see direct results of an event such as the Covid pandemic. What we do not see are the reduction of individuals not going to emergency rooms which may have acute illnesses or those avoiding diagnostic tests, are those postponing other treatments and doctor visits.

I’ve spoken to several oncology specialists and they tell me they are seeing less patients and believe individuals with symptoms are simply not coming in for screening which clearly may have long-term severe implications.  Also, I was told that some patients are avoiding cancer treatments because they don’t want to come into the hospital environment at this time, despite being strongly advised by their physicians to undergo cancer treatments.

Further an imaging specialist indicated the number of scans and imaging has been reduced, the likely situation is being put off, a decision which may come back with serious ramifications for some patients. Also, in speaking to an emergency room doctor they indicate visits her overall down from past years.

We need to balance the need for medical attention with the concern of infection of Covid.  When somebody has severe chest pains, and aching left arm followed by a shortness of breath obviously the strong possibility of a heart attack needs to take precedence over the pandemic.

We are called by the Lord to be good stewards of our body, and we need to balance a valid concern over the possibility of Covid exposure with other severe health consequences.
