Holy Lord my God, I thank You for Your grace, mercy, compassion to restore me when I stray or struggle in my walk with You.  Help me to keep You at the center of everything about life with consistent thanksgiving.  Some days discouragement, despair and weariness want to creep in and get my focus off You as the source of all I need.  Restore joy and willingness to my heart and mind to serve You knowing that one day I will rest in life eternal with You.  Jesus my Savior in You, AMEN.

‘And falling to his knees he cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” And when he said this, he fell asleep.’ Acts 7: 60 

LORD our gracious, merciful and just God of all, we thank You for Your word that continues to show us Your heart for all that You have made including humanity in all our fallen ways.  Holy God we remember here how our forefather Stephen was stoned to death, the first martyr of the church. We hear and see numerous and increasing injustice to Christians in our day, and we declare our eyes are on You to deliver.  Lord open the eyes of those who persecute us, but ultimately are choosing to reject you.  Help them understand the truth, be reconciled to You while You may be found.  We realize principalities are at work through those deceived.  But we ask to be ready as Stephen was and to deliver from darkness those that can be saved.  Jesus in Your Name above all. AMEN

Let us rejoice and be glad in it regardless of circumstances.  You are still our God, unchanged and infinite in power and love.  We declare this day to stand with Peter and early church brethren to obey You first, foremost and always above mankind.  You are the Creator, not the created as we are.  We will answer one day to You alone, not with any other human (no pastor, spouse, friend…), but with Jesus to give an account of our lives.  Lead us to be found faithful.  Obedience is better than sacrifice; let this be the testimony of our lives, surrendered, submitted wholly to You. Jesus our LORD in You we ask, AMEN.
