A Short CEN History

In October 2001, the original CEN pioneers committed to meet every month for four years to develop the basis of the CEN ministry. The following ministries shared in the vision for what is now the national Christian Emergency Network with their expertise: CDR Radio Network, Family Life Radio Network, ASSIST News Service, The Table Coalition (Mission America Coalition), The Salvation Army, Gospel Rescue Mission, National Prayer Committee, Cru (Campus Crusade), Luis Palau, Zondervan, and NeedHim.org.

CEN has been honored and appointed to several advisory committees by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Ready.gov and other federal and local response agencies.

The Christian Emergency Network (CEN) was formed to better equip the body of Christ to respond biblically in emergencies of all kinds. CEN began with 10 national ministry leaders who were moved to unite together to reach our world for Christ when emergencies occur. These leaders recognized during a crisis 90% will ask the question "Where is God in this?" For four years these national leaders met once per month to explore how we could respond better together in crisis. They wanted to more effectively seize the moment when hurting people will either turn toward Him or reject Him completely - most often for a lifetime.
