CEN Advisory: ReadyLA and Inspiritus Bring Hope to Hurricane Laura Survivors

Phoenix, AZ

AWARE

CEN was birthed after 911 to equip Christians to be ready to share their faith in emergencies both large and small. As we remember the heroes of 911 and the unity our nation faced in those days of uncertainty, we long for that same spirit to overcome the disunity and discord we are now seeing on our streets. Watch and Remember 911

As we pray, as Christians, that we would influence others not let others influence us (Jeremiah 15:19) let’s also pray for those being affected by Hurricane Laura in Lake Charles, LA and in the wildfires in California, and across the Pacific Northwest. While many cities are on fire with civil unrest, let’s continue to be thankful God has given Christian first responders the heart and strength to work together side by side in unity to meet the pressing needs in these disasters.

Christian Emergency Network’s National Logistics Officer Sherry Buresh (ReadyKY), National Safety Security Officer Darryl Walker (ReadyGA), and CEN National Chaplain Dr. Ed Smith (ReadyTX), CEN National SSO Asst Director Carroll Morgan (ReadyLA) and Karen Walker (ReadyNorthside Church), and Kevin Guyser (ReadyAZ) met at the Glad Tidings Church in Louisiana to assess one of the most damaged areas in the Lake Charles area to support cleanup and and ministry needs alongside CEN partner Inspiritus and other local partners.

CEN Founder and President, Mary Marr stated, "CEN and Inspiritus are working in unity to help those in Lake Charles, Louisiana to answer the question: “Where is God in all this?"  and the CEN ReadyLA “boots on the ground” deployment is supported by our fully operational remote Incident Command Team who are collaborating with local churches and our state and federal partners.

John Moeller (Inspiritus CEO), Sherry Buresh (Inspiritus Director of Disaster Relief/ Director/CEN Incident Commander) and CEN Chaplain Dr Edward Smith collaborate on damage assessment at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bridge City, TX. CEN national, state and local teams stand ready to support local churches in the area during the Hurricane Laura relief effort.

When Dr Ed Smith was asked to comment on what he is observing today he said:

‘I’m remembering 9/11 and all those torn apart by loss of loved ones. I’m remembering all the troops that went to serve. But as we remember let’s also move powerfully forward as a nation. As we look to the Lord, we will pull together through the Covid-19 crisis and with Him we will pull through in unity.”
